Buying a sit-and-stand style stroller

For many parents a sit-and-stand style stroller is an essential piece of baby equipment.

This type of stroller suits families best when:

  • Your older child likes to walk but gets tired and needs to hitch a ride
  • You need somewhere safe to put your mobile toddler when in a busy place, like a parking lot, or next to a busy road
  • You are out all day and will be doing a lot of walking, like at an amusement park.

We want you to spend your money wisely, so we won't pretend these strollers are perfect. Before you purchase one you should know:

  • It's going to be heavier than a single stroller, because it needs to be sturdy enough to carry two children.
  • If your older child needs to nap in the stroller, then you need a double stroller, not a sit-and-stand.
  • The front seat does not fully recline so your little one needs to be able to sit unaided before being placed in it, although they will of course be fully secured with a five-point harness. Before your baby is ready for the seat, you can attach their infant car seat to the front seat. The seat reclines far enough for an older baby to have a comfortable nap.
  • The shopping baskets are designed for carrying essentials only - not your week's grocery shop.

These issues are the same for the Joovy Caboose and the Baby Trend Sit And Stand. With every type of stroller there is some level of compromise. If those problems above have turned you off the idea, then you should take a look at some double strollers that might suit your needs better.

So What's The Difference

The main difference is the length of the strollers. The Joovy Caboose is 8-inches shorter than the Baby Trend Sit And Stand. This makes it easier to manoevure, and less cumbersome in crowded places or stores. However, the shorter length means less space for the older child sitting in the back. This not a problem if the front seat is upright, but when the seat reclines to accommodate an infant car seat, or a sleeping child, it does eat up some of the space the older child should have.

There is also the price to consider, with the Joovy Caboose typically costing around $50 more. Check out the latest Amazon prices above. These links display today's price for that item, and will take you directly to the product page. Sometimes discounts and offers can make the Joovy Caboose less expensive than the Baby Trend.

Lastly, consider the color-ways. The Joovy range uses bright vibrant colors like lime green and yellow, whereas the Baby Trend strollers have softer shades of blues, greys, and greens.
